Positive School Wide Behavior Program

For the past two years, the faculty and staff at Springfield Elementary School were recognized for implementing the Positive School Wide Behavior Program with fidelity.
What does the School Wide Positive Behavior Intervention and Support program (SWPBIS) look like at Springfield Elementary?
* Expectations are displayed throughout the school.
* Students, staff, and parents are taught the expectations throughout the school year.
* Students and staff are able to state the expectations.
* Staff members model positive behavior expectations for students.
* Students are reinforced for displaying appropriate behavior in school .
How Can Parents Help with Positive Behavior Support?
* Talk to your child about their school day and how they were responsible, respectful, and kind.
* Ask your child about Pawsitive Panther tickets they have received.
* Keep communication between you and your child’s teacher active throughout the school year.
* Focus on the positive choices your child is making.
Reinforcement
The principal will give out 10 Pawsitive Panther Awards to be handed out by random staff members every day. Staff members will acknowledge students who are following the school expectations by giving them a Pawsitive Panther Award. The student will take their Pawsitive Panther Award to the office during lunch/recess. The student signs the celebrity book and picks a numbered popsicle stick. The student and teacher name is written on a paw print and they attach it to the Pawsitive Panthers Board in the numbered spot that correlates with the numbered popsicle stick chosen. Once 10 boxes are filled in a row, diagonally, across, or down, those 10 students receive the mystery prize for that week. One teacher is pulled from the 10 Paws that were posted and receives a reward from the Teacher Reward Menu.
Consequences are still given for inappropriate behavior. These may include:
* School Discipline Report completed
* Restorative Conference with the student
* Warning Issued
* Parent Contacted
* Time in Office
* Lunch with teacher or in office
* Student/Teacher Conference
* Loss of Privilege
* Detention and/or suspension in accordance with district student conduct policy
