School Wide Positive Behavior Program

During the 2016 - 2017 school year, Springfield Elementary School launched a new School Wide Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports program. The SWPBIS program focuses on being respectful, responsible and kind in a variety of settings throughout the building, in addition to the bus. To help Springfield students become responsible citizens, lesson plans have been developed to teach all students the skills and expected behaviors. By the end of September, students are expected to have been taught all the lessons and will be held accountable for expected behaviors.

Students have the opportunity to earn a PAWSitive Panther ticket daily for exhibiting the expected behaviors. Once a student earns a PAWSitive Panther ticket, he/she will take their PAWSitive Panther ticket to the office during lunch/recess or at 3:00pm. The student signs the celebrity book and picks a numbered popsicle stick. The secretary writes the student's name and the teacher's name who gave them the paw on a paw print and attaches it to the PAWSitive Panther board in the numbered spot. Once 10 boxes are filled in a row, diagonally, across, or down, those 10 students in that row receive the mystery prize for that week. One teacher's name is pulled from the 10 paws that were posted and receives a reward from the staff menu. All paw tickets are removed and the board is cleared. At the end of each quarter, we have a school wide celebration to celebrate students positive behavior and good choices.
